“Anxiety, the product of our overactive imaginary evils creates an inability to love our minds doubting oneself in to weakness.”I wrote this sentence along time a go in relation to my life before my spinal cord injury. Since taking part in the tv series on human trauma and struggles one thing alot of people talk to me about is anxiey and depression. Perhaps they feel that I can relate to their human struggles and have a greater understanding of their emotions.
Overthinking causes your mind to create negative scenarios and replay painful memories. This consumes your body and mind with irrational thoughts and a racing heart. Anxiety suffocates your mind with lies; telling you that you are not loved and everything is not going to be okay. But if you relax and focus, taking each day as it comes everything will be fine. You do not need to solve every problem at once, including the ones that have not or might not happen!!!

Because anxiety does not come from thinking about the future but from wanting to control it. And trust me when I say you can’t!! I thought I had it all figured out but in one single second anything can happen and everything can change. There is no point in wasting time on something that is out of your control. No amount of worrying, overthinking or guilt is going to change the future, its just robbing you of now and happy moments you could be enjoying.
My advice is dont wait for everything to be perfect before you decide to enjoy your life. Live in the now and enjoy everything you have.

We are all to guilty of getting stuck on that one thing that will ruin our day but life is too short to waste on negativity. Once you focus on your gifts and the people who are truely valuable to you instead of your problems, your whole perspective will change.
I truely believe that stress, anxiety and depression are not signs of weakness. They are definitive signs that you have tried to remain strong for far too long. Reach out to someone and let them know that you are struggling. I think this is a very important topic to discuss with children and schools should have a mandatory mental health class where you learn about depression, anxiety, eating disorders and other mental health disorders. Teach children its okay if they are not feeling okay. Instead of suffering in silence teach them good learn coping skills and teach them to reach out; to a teacher, a friend or a parent.

You’re great, Geraldine. (And sorry if your foray into TV has left you with a full IN tray.) Roger
