Sport and physical activity are central to the fabric of life in Ireland. As citizens of this state, people with disabilities have a right to be active within their local communities. It is truly important I feel for others to understand what it is really like for a person with a disability to be active in Ireland and challenges they encounter in doing so,
Adapted horse riding is one of the sports I tried and really enjoyed. Farom these pictures you can see some challenges we came up against but got past. Man power is the main one to ensure safety especially when mounting the horse. Finances to purchase equipment such as hoists and adapted saddles would rule out some of the people required. Equine therapy is extremely benefical for pain and stress alike. This is a great workout for my arms, core and shoulders and 45mins is usually adequate time on the horse. Over doing it can be too much for my body and leave me exhausted.
