The first talk on disseminating my fndings focusing on “Improving the quality of life for physically disabled people through sport ” took place in January 2019 in my hometown of Castlebar in the County library.
The talk focused on inclusiveness and aimed to connect people within and beyond existing communities by providing insight and education about the importance of physical activity leading to an independent lifestyle and overcoming personal challenges.
There was a great turnout with the Councillor, Blackie Gavin and members from Mayo Sports Partnership being amongst the attendees.
Local Sports Partnerships in every county provide support and guidance to all leisure centres and fitness professionals within their county. I hope that by promoting the activities on offer both locally and county wide, members of the Local Sports Partnerships wil showcase the facilities and programmes that individuals with disabilities can also try. I want others to know that there are centres, facilities and programmes being provided for them and to highlight how easy it is for them to access them.
