In my experience, I agree with the first four points but with a SCI every gram of weight counts and at 12.5lbs you would feel its presence until you get stronger. So don’t be disheartened if you have a fairly new SCI as strength develops with time.
Also, it is very sensitive to rough terrain and slight bumps or stones can impact the system and cause it to stop suddenly. This is a big hazard going up hills because if it stops you need the strength to restart the motor with a strong push while at the same time preventing the chair from rolling back. Perhaps until you are more comfortable with the smartdrive bring someone with you that can help if a problem arises.
It is expensive at 6,150Euro (not proved by the HSE) but it has definitely benefited my recovery and led to a fuller life so if your family and friends can fund raise it is a worthwhile investment.
